Secret Santa

I was quietly browsing when i found this report. I want to keep it here to share it with you :) Happy Holiday, and Merry Christmas 2007!

Secret Santa rides again in Kansas City
By MARIA SUDEKUM FISHER, Associated Press Writer

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Susan Dahl had spent four months homeless in Colorado and just been on a harrowing 10-hour bus trip through sleet and snow. Hungry and broke, all she wanted to do was get back to family in Minnesota.

That's when a tall man in a red coat and red hat sat next to her at the downtown bus station, talked to her quietly and then slipped her $100 on that recent December afternoon.

The man was doing the work of Larry Stewart, Kansas City's original Secret Santa who anonymously wandered city streets doling out $100 bills to anyone who looked like they needed it. Stewart died of cancer at age 58 earlier this year, but his legacy lives on.

"He said `Here's a $100 bill ... and this is in memory of Larry Stewart,'" said Dahl, 56.

During about a quarter century, Stewart quietly gave out more than $1.3 million to people in laundromats, diners, bus stations, shelters and thrift stores, saying it was his way of giving back at Christmas for all the wealth and generosity he had received in his lifetime.

For years, Stewart did not want his name known or want thanks or applause, but last December he acknowledged who he was and used his last few months while battling cancer to press his message of kindness toward others. He even trained some friends in the ways of Secret Santa.

This Christmas, a friend who told Stewart in the hospital that he would carry on for him is out on the streets, handing out $100 bills, each one stamped with "Larry Stewart, Secret Santa."

Between Kansas City and several other cities this Christmas, the new Secret Santa will give away $75,000 of his own money, mostly in $100 bills.

"I didn't want to be a Secret Santa," said the man, a business consultant who lives in the Kansas City area. "I wanted to give Larry money. But last year, he said I had to hand it out myself. So I did, and I got hooked."

This new Secret Santa talks about Larry Stewart to just about everyone he encounters. "Have you ever heard of a man named Larry Stewart?" he asks before handing out $100 or more.

Depending on who he's talking to, the new Secret Santa might say Stewart was a man who believed in making people happy by giving them money they didn't have to ask for, apply for or wait in line for.

"There was this fella named Larry Stewart," he tells a man in the bus station. "He was an old friend of mine. He was called Secret Santa, and every year he would find a few people who might need a little money and he would ask that you pass on the kindness."

People respond differently to the gesture. Some cry. Some scream. A rare few even say "No thanks."

Others take the money and offer their own gifts. like Robert Young, who was homeless and had only 20 cents in his pocket. When Secret Santa gave him $200, Young, 50, took out an old notebook and ripped out a song he had written.

"It's yours now," he told Secret Santa, who thanked Young, and carefully tucked the pages into his pocket.

The new Secret Santa has also started a Web site, and is trying to recruit other Secret Santas across the country. "Larry's dream was for a Secret Santa in every city," Kansas City's Santa said.

There are now a couple apprentices, with more candidates turning up all the time. But, he says, you don't have to be willing to hand out money to be a Secret Santa.

"Anyone can be a Secret Santa," he says. "You don't have to give away $100. You can give away kindnes. Help someone."

PayPal Debit Card

After soooo long searching for any debit card that can be used in Paypal i found the page on paypal itself(yet i had browsed it anywhere on web!). Can this be our light of hope Indonesians? Maybe yes..maybe no ;) It was PayPal Debit Card.

I found it somewhere on MY paypal account but can't find it again if i search through my paypal. The link here i got from searching from yahoo SE. I am not sure too if this is a fraud link(since i DID find this page somewhere in my paypal account but can't be sure of it now)
HERE

Be sure you read the TOS before applying application. HERE

The good thing using the PayPal Debit Card is that it draws right from your paypal account and you even get 1% cash back on purchases! So much about a dream come true huh? If you using another bank CC-withdraw to ATM they charge you USD 5 and if you use Paypal DC they charge you USD 1! Regular purchases at a store are fee free. and based on the info there are no anual fees. But the question is....is this dream true? So far they that actually can use the Paypal DC are the one that lives and works in US and, in limited circumstances, select non-U.S. PayPal users only. Does this mean we can privately request a PP DC in the Indonesia? Are we still need the US Bank or VMI?(assuming that the Paypal DC is only a dream afterall). Well, we'd never know until one of us, Indonesians give it a try! If you ask me, i can't, my balance is the big 0 at paypal lol.

Paypal keep saying that the debit card can be used worldwide in every atm that stated cirrus/maestro logo.

Andrew Ooi in Malaysia had tried to withdraw his amount of money: HERE

solution: try to contact the PayPal Customer Support Agent and asking them directly whether PP DC can be used in Indonesia, since people in Canada, and UK are considered US but still found problem with PP DC.

add the details i found: And no the debit card is not available outside of the US. :,(

Global Warming

We all know that we need land to live. We need them to plant wheat, rice, fruits, etc for our food; as well as the space for our home, and so forth. Land developers build homes for us. Not only that, they also give us our shopping centers, apartments, amusement parks, and other structures that can fulfill our needs. But sometimes we go too much. We cut down trees and forests just for a luxury villa for a rich people and movie stars. We pollute rivers only to make rings and bracelets. We kill sharks for a disgusting dish made of their fins.

We don’t really need luxury villas. Many people that built the villas just want to live large, show off, and impress the public. We don’t really need expensive rings and bracelets. It’s just for show off. We can always eat something else, anything but the shark fin soup, dog meat, kangaroo meat, and so forth and so on. We can use cotton for our clothes, and not animal fur. That’s why Miss Universe Riyo Mori got criticized by animal activists for wearing animal fur on her clothes. She even got e-mailed because she didn’t respond to the strike they’ve put up.

We, humans, have lived for a long time on this planet. In ancient times, we didn’t pollute the lakes. We used cotton and fur from animals that were plentiful, such as sheep. We didn’t hunt too many sharks; we hunted them on a limited number. But now, we live in a total opposite of those behaviors, and then we start having many problems. Maybe it’s about time for us to go back to the Stone Age and try to live like ape-man. Just kiding.

We have been having problems with nature. Our pollution causes global warming and holes in the ozone layer. The ice at the poles is melting, and we’re on the brink of sinking. Global warming also whips up more storms and tornadoes. Pollution and our bad habit create another problem in our health and social life. And now, we’re suffering from it. No more beautiful skin and cozy environment in our daily life.

In our city, the troubles are becoming worse with every coming minute. You’ve seen the problems on TV. You know the problems. We all know how to solve them. But why it hasn’t been solved? Economic profit for the major companies is the main cause of the unsolved problems. George W. Bush hasn’t ratified many environment agreements, thus causing the USA to be one of the major pollutants of the world. Come on, people. We need nature. Nature needs us. Where else can we live – Mars? We haven’t developed Mars, man. We don’t have the technology, yet. So we need to keep nature alive for as long as we can. Besides, we can’t live alone. We’re not alone on this planet. Don’t build villas or high rise tower for yourself and endangering nature and millions of people – including yourself – at the same time. You know how it works. Let’s Stop Global Warming now.

Want to do something to slow down global warming?

1. Use an non aerosol hairspray
2. Don't drink soda(or at least be minimise), coke etc it's bad for earth and it's bad for your body too. Better drink green tea, as it's slow down the radiation/cancer in your body.
3. Plant a tree or small plant on your apartemen. A single tree will absorb one ton of carbon dioxide over its lifetime.
4. Only use Air conditioner at night
5. Turn off any un used electronic devices. When you're not using them, turning the device off can save thousands of pounds of carbon dioxide a year.
6. Drive less. Walk, bike, or take mass transit more often. You'll save one pound carbon dioxide for everymile you don't drive.
7. Recycle more.
8. Less using wodden chopstick. Instead use a metal chopstick.

Menjadi dewasa

Banyak yang bilang kalau saya ini kekanak-kanakan. Padahal umur sudah mencapai 23 tapi kelakuan masih seperti anak-anak. Polos. Gampang dibohongi. Mudah percaya. Kalau istilah kerennya sih Innocent gitu loh :)

God has called You

One day i opened my e-mail. And inside there's this e-mail from Dayspring, i want to share it with you, it may be your bless, maybe you bumped to my blog this day, right now, just to read this message, God is calling you.

God has called Each of us to serve Him in the place He has us. In His eyes we all have a ministry. Many serve Him in a local church through a variety of ministries, such as music, teaching, youth work, or by being a part of the church staff. Others serve on the mission field, on the job, at school, or at home.

God knows you and He knows your heart
desires to serve Him. You are someone that He will use to make a difference, to share His love, and to touch the hearts of others. What has qualified you for this high privilege of being used by Him? Is it your talents, your personality, your education, your influence, or your resume? It is none of these; rather, it is the response of your heart toward Him. God is always searching for those whose hearts are yielded to Him so that He can work mightily through them.

Sometimes we can be led to think that God's work is dependent upon us, upon what we do, and upon what we know. The truth is that God wants us to be totally dependent upon Him. He is the Treasure, we are the vessels; He is Vine, we are the branches; He is the Living Water, we are the channels through which He flows.

The apostle Peter was someone who needed to learn this important truth. Jesus taught him the futility of trying to get results through his own efforts by allowing him, an expert fisherman, to labor all night and come up empty. Afterward, when He followed Jesus' word to cast out into the deep, Peter pulled in a catch that was beyond his dreams.

As His servant, remember that your ministry is His idea and not yours. He is the One who knows you, who has called you, and who has equipped you to serve Him. Remain true, remain faithful, remain restful, and remain totally dependent upon Him.

God is not looking for those who are clever, but those in whom He can be wise; He is not looking for those who are talented, but for those to whom He can be all sufficient; He is not looking for those who are powerful, but for those through whom He can be almighty.

It is our prayer at DaySpring and me that God will encourage you today as you faithfully serve Him, and that He will use you to bring encouragement to others in a special way during Clergy Appreciation Month.

-Roy Lessin, Co-Founder DaySpring Cards

"FOR THE EYES of the Lord search back and forth across the whole earth, looking for people whose hearts are perfect toward Him, so that He can show His great power in helping them..." 2 CHRONICLES 16:9 TLB

Now, Paypal Indonesia available to receive and withdraw money!!

current mood: could never been better

Namun kartu ini terkena charge US $5 tiap withdraw.

**

Aaaa....i might got a heart attack! i thought i might die of happiness! the long await paypal now can be withdraw on Indonesia!! God, thank you, thank you, this is the bestest day this year!

*i need to take a deep breath, calm myself down* ..damnit, i still want to scream

Indonesia now served by Paypal with full feature support! Now Indonesian Paypal users can withdraw and receive money directly to their own credit card, with no more limitation!

the thing is paypal still not believed us, indonesian credit card, so paypal only received US based credit card VISA such as Citibank, ANZ, etc.

to withdraw from CC(credit card) you will be charged $5, unless you have an US bank(free, no charge).

i wonder why Paypal suddenly made this change? dunno, maybe they decided to give us another chance? or maybe they see the potential market within another 26 countries that now can withdraw?..still a great news to us, Indonesian!

Learn to Earn Money

current mood:

Article took from cute-spot.com. I think it's useful for someone like me, and maybe this article useful for you too, Good Luck!

~~~
Most people think that if you don't have a paypal account, or a credit card, that you cannot earn online. That is so wrong. This page is going to help you earn easy cash $$$ using your website!
PayPopUp.com - I have been with this program for about 8 months now. How much do I earn? I make $50 + a day (doing nothing LOL). They always pay on time, and you can choose whether you want to recieve your payment through PayPal, Pay Check or Bank transfer! When I first started, I recieved their payments through check, and I recieved them through mail twice a month, regularly. Eventually, when my earnings grew, I decided to get them wired or bank transferred.
I really think that every site should have this, because how long can you go on updating and working on your site for nothing? I am serious, if you want to make your site last and for you to stop worrying about getting a real job, you should definitely give this a shot. I, myself, never in my wildest dreams thought I would be earning from the internet by doing something I loved, but I gave it a shot, and now I'm not regretting that I signed up! They are a very reliable and helpful company and my experience with them has been one of my greatest blessings in life.
Wanna try it out? Here is a simple guide on what to do after clicking this link HERE.
You will be brought to the PayPopUp homepage, where almost everything you see is some writing, and business talk. Don't get confused and leave yet! Do you see two tables, where the one on the left has "Advertisers" as a title, and the other one on the right, has "Publishers"?
Okay, you are a Publisher. Therefore, create an account under "Publishers".
After having done that, you will be led to a page where they ask for your name, address and further information. Do not fret! PayPopUp is a large company, trusted by millions, and they have earned their worth!
So rest assured that the information you will be handing over to them will NOT be sold, or anything of the sort.
Now, are you certain that the info you've given them is correct??? Please be careful with typos, etcetera, because the address you will be giving them is where they will send you your pay check! Now, you don't want it getting lost in the mail, do you? LOL I don't think so ;)..
Now that you are done with that, you can start logging in to your very own account, and submitting your site for approval. It only takes about half a day for it to get approved, so there is no waiting involved!
They will pay you for every paying day. In other words, every 15 days! Provided that you have already reached $50 dollars. You also have a compartment in your members area where you can see how much you have earned so far. You can also see how many "impressions" you got by the hits, and basically, you are fed with every info that you need to quench your curiousity. It's not even close to confusing! Good luck and happy money making!
Pixel art
current mood:
Pixelling. Pixel is a single point in a graphic image. With care, pixels in an image can be reproduced at any size without the appearance of visible dots or squares; but in many contexts, they are reproduced as dots or squares and can be visibly distinct when not fine enough. Here can you see my work of pixelling:
I like trying something new. These pixels were made in my free time,and i even got some money from these. There was a website that need freelance pixel artist, so i applied to them and it turned out i accepted! The company is in Jakarta and me, in hero city, so we never actually meet. The business going with they request pixel with some theme and i made the pixel, then after it was done i sent them through e-mail, and when they accepted they paid me through transfered to my account. This is the first online business i am doing. I love it! Some of my other pixels can be found on Mehompy You should try mehompy, it is a perfect place for someone that loves pixel or cute things!
The people i worked with are nice, they're good people and i am such a lucky girl to meet them!
